Vegas Then and Now – What has changed in 20 years

My love affair with Vegas and my love affair with my wife have overlapping timelines. My first Vegas trip in 2003 was less than a year after I met her (and without her). When we married in 2005, obviously we were honeymooning in Vegas. Digital cameras were just becoming a thing back then, and we used one to snap some pics from atop the Stratosphere, as it was called back then. Not quite 20 years later, in 2022, my wife and I were back up on the Strat (now having a shortened name) with our 2 daughters and I realized some of the pictures we took matched my 2005 picture quite well. With a little editing, I was able to make a slider comparing the two. (And our girls absolutely loved Vegas on our 2022 trip. The next generation of Vegas fanatics has been born…)

Las Vegas Strip 2005 <–> 2022

Funny story from that 2005 honeymoon trip…. we took a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and it landed IN the canyon for a quick lunch. It was about a 45 minute flight to the canyon and it was very turbulent! My wife could not make it without using the air sickness bag and I was feeling very queasy by the time we landed in the canyon. Neither of us wanted to get back in the helicopter for the return trip, we would have preferred to be left to die in the canyon at that point! The pilot took our picture and the looks on our faces pretty much says it all…

My wife and I both did not want to get back on the helicopter after the turbulent ride to the Grand Canyon (Sweet jean shorts!)
